Horn and String Readings of Student Arrangements

On December 20, students in the Instrumentation and Arranging for Commercial Music class (Music 36201) had the opportunity to have their arrangements for horns and strings read by professional musicians. The string arrangements were for string quartet and the horn arrangements were for trumpet, tenor sax, and trombone. Pictured below are the string quartet consisting of Adda Kridler and Sarah Whitney on violins, Surai Balbeisi on viola, and Laura Metcalf on cello. The horn section pictured below are Dan Levine on trombone, Brian Pareschi on trumpet, and John Scarpulla on tenor sax. Congratulations to the class for putting together very professional sounding arrangements.

Capstone Evening – Year Three

Fourth year students in our program are now required to create a Capstone Project during the Fall semester. The Capstone Project is a multifaceted assignment that serves as a culminating academic and artistic experience for students near the end of their tenure at the Center.  These projects can be in music production or audio post production. The evening featured an introduction of the projects by the Capstone students, playback of these projects, and comments and discussion by distinguished professionals from the music and audio industry.  This years professionals were Grammy award winning producer/engineer Jeff Jones and film/broadcast composer Stuart Kollmorgan. A reception for the fourth year students followed the event.  Pictured below (seated L-R) are Stuart Kollmorgan, Paul Special, Paul Kozel, and Jeff Jones.
