Albany Records recently released an album of music commissioned and played by New York Philharmonic cellist Eric Bartlett entitled The Essence of Cello. Eric is recognized as one of the foremost interpreters of contemporary music for cello. He has been involved in over 90 premiers as a soloist and as a member of various ensembles including the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, New York Philharmonic Ensembles, and the Contact New Music Series. Mr. Bartlett will be the featured soloist in the New York premier of Per Nørgård’s Cello Concerto No. 2, Momentum in a Contact New Music Series concert March 7. The Essence of Cello was produced, recorded, edited, and mixed by SAC director Paul Kozel. Mastering for the album was done at Masterdisk by Scott Hull.
